Job Description: As a Laboratory Technician specializing in ELISA assays, you will play a crucial role in our laboratory operations. You will be responsible for performing enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) to detect various biomarkers and analytes in clinical specimens. Your duties will include sample preparation, assay setup, data analysis, and reporting results accurately and efficiently. Additionally, you will contribute to maintaining the laboratory's compliance with CAP and CLIA regulations and assist in quality control and quality assurance activities.


1. Perform ELISA Assays: Execute ELISA assays according to established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocols. This involves sample preparation, reagent handling, plate setup, incubation, washing steps, and data acquisition.

2. Quality Control and Assurance: Conduct routine quality control checks to ensure the accuracy and precision of assay results. Maintain documentation of quality control data and promptly report any deviations or discrepancies. Adhere to laboratory quality assurance policies and procedures.

3. Sample Handling and Preparation: Receive, label, and process clinical specimens for ELISA testing. Perform sample dilutions and aliquoting as necessary while ensuring proper handling and storage conditions.

4. Instrumentation and Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipment required for ELISA assays. This includes microplate readers, washers, pipettes, and other laboratory instruments. Perform routine maintenance and calibration as per manufacturer guidelines.

5. Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze ELISA assay results accurately using appropriate software or manual calculations. Record and document data in laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or electronic laboratory notebooks. Generate reports summarizing assay results for review by laboratory management.

6. Compliance and Regulatory Requirements: Ensure compliance with regulatory standards set forth by relevant governing bodies such as the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), College of American Pathologists (CAP), and other regulatory agencies. Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

7. Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with other laboratory staff members, including technologists, supervisors, and pathologists. Communicate effectively regarding sample status, assay performance, and any issues or concerns that may arise during testing.


  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Biochemistry, or related field.
  • At least 1-2 years of previous experience in high complexity clinical laboratory settings.
  • Proficiency in performing ELISA assays and other immunological techniques.
  • Familiarity with CAP and CLIA regulations and laboratory accreditation standards.
  • Experience with developing new assays.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
